OMG - three days consecutive with sunny skies and mild temps! Where are we? The beauty of this part of the world begins to come alive when you can get and explore its natural scenery. We walked the several km trail around Gore Bay (locals pronounce as nearly one word - Gorebay!) to the bluff overlooking the bay and out into the North Channel. Along the way we met some seasonal boater’s and townsfolk. Yesterday we had learned we would be unable to exchange our US dollars for Canadian dollars unless we had a bank account at the local bank (Bank of Montreal (BMO)). We need only some money for the coin laundry. Seemed like a lot of work for $20. Today we went to the ships store and did an exchange with them. I am told the practice of needing a bank account is a spillover from US banking and PM Trudeau’s retaliation to Trump for some reason. Don’t know; haven’t checked it out but how silly regardless of the circumstances. I can assure you that no one can launder money in $20 increments! Anyway, we have money for laundry on Monday when the weather is supposed to turn cold and rainy- what else?

I mentioned we met some seasonal boaters today. In fact, we met the young woman on the SUP paddling in the flannel shirt. She and her family are in from North Bay, a 4 hour ride south to this destination. Her mother said it snowed on Mother’s Day!! They think this weather is like Miami Beach! Balmy!

As best as we can tell there are three restaurants in town. Bouys, where we went Thursday night; Codfather, a local hole in the wall place in town, and Rocky Raccoon, an East Indian place with hit or miss food and cash only, no exchange rate premium/discount. Guess we’ll go back to Bouys! Last night we had fresh Lake Trout bought at the local farmers market, grilled on the dock with fresh corn on the cob, asparagus and watermelon. Yum, yum!

We’re trying to play golf tomorrow before the rains come in on Monday. A 9 hole course somewhere south of the marina. Monday will be a laundry day and Tuesday we’ll move to Little Current through the Benjamin Islands. If we can find a nice little cove in which to anchor we may spend a couple of days totally off the grid. Here, we’re mostly off the grid! LOL! Thank goodness for decent Internet connection! From Little Current we’ll go Killarney, then maybe back to the States; Admiral needs a manicure!
