On the waterway again. This time up the Hudson River, past West Point, up to New Baltimore (about 13 miles south of Albany, NY’s state capital). This leg of the trip is reminiscent of the TN River leg, wide river, smooth water, commercial tows and cargo ships, rock cliffs and lots of trees.

We’re in Donovan’s Shady Harbor marina on the Hudson River. Barbara won a two night free stay so we’ll be here for a couple of nights. We’re trying to focus in on the Erie Canal leg and estimate trip times for marina accommodations and fueling / pump outs.

Finally took on fuel today. Last time was in Brielle, NJ. Had great mileage today with a favorable tide working for us. We cruised at nearly 26 mph burning only 26 gal / hr. Weather looks good - high temps in the low 80’s, low in the low 60’s.
