Strong northeasterly winds continue but we decided to head across the lake because of the trailing sea. My wind app forecasted <2’ and NOAA forecasted 3-5’. Both were correct depending on your location. From Frankfort, the leeward side of the lake, seas were relatively flat; however, by mid-lake we were definitely in 3’+ with an occasional 5 footer. Fifty mile trip burned ~65 gallons of fuel. We’ve landed at Yacht Harbor on the canal cut through from Lake Michigan to Sturgeon Bay, a lovely marina and surroundings. We met the owners while in Oswego, NY and ran with them from Oswego to Tobermory, ON. Dan and Mary are a great couple and it’s good to see them again.

The weather is considerably cooler on this side of the lake. In fact, water temps in Frankfort were 68’, dropped to 46’ mid-lake, and are 62’ here in the canal. Air temp is 62’ also with a stiff n/e wind.....brrrr! I told Barbara that I’m not changing into long pants until the snow flies! Hopefully I’ll be in ATL by the time that happens!

We’re here for a few days and hope to se my mother, sister, and bro-in-law this week before we head up the bay side to Washington Island.
