It was a beautifully clear and calm day on the way in from Gore Bay. There was nary a ripple in the water for the 60 mile run; quite a change from Saturday. And, no one was on the water! Even the temperatures cooperated- high in the mid 60’s. In Drummond Island people are actually walking around in t-shirts and shorts! We took off our sweatshirts! Could summer be coming to the North Pole?

We’re going into town with another Looper who has commandeered the courtesy car for the evening. The fellow Looper is from a little town near W. Palm Beach, FL. He, too, kept the boat up north for the winter and will be moving on to Charlevoix tomorrow. We’re told another Looper is coming to get their Tiara tomorrow and is docked next to us.

Yesterday, in Gore Bay, we had a bit of a surprise. I went into the engine room to check down things and I heard a pump running. I determined it was the mid bilge pump and after investigating the problem I discovered the float switch was bad. I contorted myself as best I could to remove the pump but the space was too tight for me to completely remove it. So I went to the ship’s store and asked if there was a repair guy around - yes - go find Norm in the boat yard. I found Norm, explained the situation and he said he would come over in an hour. An hour later Norm was in the bilge contorting in ways I no longer can and he replaced the bad switch with an extra one that I had bought last year when we were Marathon, FL. Problem fixed! And thanks to our friend Rodney the electrician, who told me which wire to cut!

Well, we’re back on Drummond. We have good Internet, TV reception, and a huge laundry room! We’ll need to re-provision and the Admiral is still looking for the elusive manicure. I understand there is a very nice 18 hole golf course nearby, The Rock, that we will need to check out. Temporary plans are to stay here until the end of the month then move north to Sault Sainte Marie, MI. From there we will be able to enjoy both Canada Day and Independence Day celebrations before going into Lake Superior.
