The guys here at Walstrom in Cheboygan have been great. Not only do the function as a seamlessly working team, each dovetailing their respective talents with one another but also by going the extra mile to deliver high customer service and satisfaction. Case in point: yesterday we had the props installed. When the props were pulled they placed the holding fittings, including the bullet noses, back on the drives. When another tech was trouble shooting the erratically revving engine’s, the drives needed to be engaged. Unexpectedly, the drive engagement spun off the port bullet nose and holding ring dropping then into the river water beneath the boat. Of course this wasn’t known until the boat was pulled yesterday to reinstall the props. Instead of bemoaning the fact, Dave, one of the techs, took off his shirt, shoes and socks and drove into the river to find the missing parts. I loaned him my snorkel gear and soon he came up with the nose cone! Unfortunately he wasn’t able to find the brass holding ring but that didn’t stop this team. On to Plan B: call a friend who scuba dives! After a couple of underwater passes yielded the brass ring! You can’t make up this stuff! A short time later the props were installed, bottom paint touched up and the boat was back in the water for a test run for revving issue. That problem had been fixed, too. Next was install the new VHF radio and the oil pressure sensor. The radio was completed yesterday and the oil pressure sensor this AM. Great work by a well coordinated team.

The question now is where to next? Mackinac City? St. Ignace? Fayette? We’ll let you know when we know!
