A cold weather front pushed through last night and dropped the temps from a high of 80’ to the mid 50’s overnight and with a high today of only 68’. The 50 nm run today was calm compared to the last time we were on the boat. We had decreasing northwest winds and a calming sea - 1-2’. We’re in Sturgeon Bay for one night then we’ll move on to Sheboygan, WI, about 70 nm tomorrow. We’re scheduled for two nights in Sheboygan, then to Racine for a couple of nights before going to Chicago. Near term weather and seas forecast looks good for moving. It feels great to be back on the boat, in the sun, and underway.

We said our goodbyes to Mom on Monday. I explained our near-term goal of getting through the Illinois river locks and then we can return, it was tearful and heartfelt. I talked to my sister yesterday and Mom continues to have good nights, but the increased Fentanyl dosage makes her too drowsy. Now to continue working to balance dosage and pain management. My sister has her work cut out for her, but I promised to call every day and do whatever I can do from a distance.

As we were walking the dock here today, we saw a boat name that we recognized from Panama City Beach. Sure enough the couple just walked past our boat and said to us - hey, don’t we know you?! They’re on their way south and will be leaving in the AM going to Racine. Small world!

And so it goes. Thanks again to those who reached out to us regarding mom. I / we appreciate it very much. We’ll keep you posted.
