Well, after a chilly ride yesterday and more cold northerly winds this AM, we ran to JWSP with the generator on and heater running. Much warmer ride! We did the 95-mile run in 5 1/2 hours and saw very little traffic. Passed one barge (too quickly; sorry for the wake) and saw what seemed to be a hundred bass boaters in Lake Guntersville. I’m sorry but they’re like gnats. Buzzing all around you and not seeming to care where you’re going. Glad to be away from that scene for a while.

Tail water at the Guntersville Lock & Dam was unlike I’ve experienced. Three to four foot current wakes awaited on the exit!

We’ll be moving tomorrow AM to get to the headwaters of the TN-Tom, about a 65-mile ride. It will feel like a morning cruise after the past two days ~ 200 miles. The boat is running well and is built to move.

BTW - the “Docks” restaurant at Goose Pond is excellent. I had shrimp and grits and the Admiral had sesame Tuna - both outstanding! Tonight we’ll grill on the dock.

Weather is cool but the clear AL skies and sun make it hot on the back of the boat. C’mon summer! Forecast is for lows in the upper 20’s!
