Although we are not necessarily in the path of sub-tropical storm Alberto, we have been feeling wind and rain from it for the past 30 hours or so. Last night the wind howled, and we were pelleted with rain showers. This morning, we’ve felt and seen wind coming from all directions. I’ve been wondering how to photograph this wind. As I looked across the bow, the burgee was blowing to the east while the windmill on the sailboat in front of us was catching wind from the northwest, and yet the flag on the pole in the near distance was blowing toward the southwest! I would have taken a picture, but it was raining so hard I doubt those differences could have been seen in their relative forms.

Yesterday, we walked to a West Marine store in a nearby shopping center and I bought a new American flag for the boat. I like to fly the flag. I do so at home every day. The flag on MTB had become weather worn and needed to be replaced. What better time to replace than Memorial Day weekend?! This morning while checking lines and everything I noticed my new flag had become a causality to the overnight wind! Bummer. I’ll need to get another tomorrow. In the meanwhile, I was able to connect to cable TV and we have become a part of the world again and the broader spectrum of TV has helped us pass the time. How could the world have existed without HGTV? LOL!

We are supposed to move on to Ft. Pierce Tuesday. Weather conditions seem to preclude running outside with seas reducing to 4-5ft from 9-12 ft. If we move it will be on the AICW. My first look at the route indicates I should be able to clear most bridges without needing to have the draw span opened. BTW - I have learned a new word - bascule. It’s French, meaning drawbridge. Navigational charts identify bridges as fixed or bascule.

Well, the sun has peeked out and it’s still raining. Tide is out too. I needed to release the port lines because the lines are tied to stationary piers and boat was hung up on that side. Starboard and stern are tied to a floating dock.

We’re to have cocktails with our dock-mates tonight then head to the marina restaurant for dinner. Our dock mates sold their dirt home in central FL and after completing the loop in 2016-17, they’re looking to buy a house in Chattanooga or Knoxville. We’ll try to convince them ChattaVegas is the better choice!
