Up at 0430 today in anticipation of moving on but a combination of rain and lightning and predicted heavy downstream commercial traffic will postpone our movement for a day. Members within this flotilla called to the lock masters and discovered we could pass through one but not two locks today. And, due to the lightning, lock personnel cannot work the locks so commercial traffic is delayed which means pleasure craft is delayed even more.

We made a tactical error when we tied up yesterday. An error that I should not have made - I know better! In our urgency of securing dock space along the wall, I and others like me, tied up with the bow facing downstream. Our bows should be facing upstream! So, to pass our time this morning all of the Looper men have been out harvesting the tremendous amount of aquatic grass and debris that has accumulated between the sea wall and boats and underneath everyone’s swim platforms. The amount of “stuff” floating down the river is this most eclectic accumulation of stuff I’ve seen. It ranges from this long bladed aquatic grass to household garbage to dead trees 25’ long! Tomorrow will be an interesting show as everyone tries to depart with this stuff in the water.

So, I guess today I’ll take a nap, read a book, and try to watch some football with our limited reception. Tomorrow’s agenda is travel two locks and stay at Heritage Marina just below Marseille Lock.
