Heavy storms overnight and early this morning delayed our departure today. This is the first time we’ve had rain since Atlantic City. No complaints here; we had our fair share of rain in FL. About a 50-mile run today through 8 locks, one on Erie Canal and seven on the Oswego Canal. The rain brought through a weather front with northwesterly winds and cooler temps. Highs today in the low to mid 80’s and a low tonight in the low 60’s. Tomorrow night is supposed to be in the 50’s! Scenery today was nicer than yesterday, and we saw civilization most of the trip. Lake Oneida is a fairly long, narrow and shallow lake. At the western end you re-enter the Erie Canal for a lock. After which is another fork in the fiver. Go left and you continue the Erie Canal to Buffalo, NY and Lake Erie; (via the Welland Canal); go right and enter the Oswego Canal to Oswego, NY and Lake Ontario. We turned right.

Oswego is a neat little lake front town. While it’s nice in the summer, I can’t imagine how much snow this town receives in the winter. With the cold front coming in with strong northerly winds, it’s time to break out the sweatshirts.
