With the forecast of more gray skies and extremely cool weather for northern lower Michigan we decided to venture into the upper peninsula. So we came to Hessel in the Les Cheneaux Islands of the eastern UP. It’s about an 1 1/2 hour run around Bois Blanc Island, just to the east of Mackinac Island, into the Les Cheneaux group of islands. Hessel is on the mainland of the UP just below Cedarville (of course you knew that). We’re here for a few days. We need to figure our next stops since the weather is so cold. High today was upper 50’s Water temp is 53’ in the marina. Go figure. At least the sun was out once we got here. Washed the boat and met John Cook from Indianapolis and his lady friend, Angela Henley from Sault Ste. Marie, MI. We went to dinner together at the Les Cheneaux Distillery. Nice dinner with home made hooch. John and Angela recent ought a 25’ Rinker sport cruiser and have it in the marina here.

Don’t know what we’ll do tomorrow but there is a golf course nearby. Now to find auto transport there.

The radar worked well. Nice to have it back!
