Another smooth run in the Atlantic Ocean to Charleston. But for a couple of huge cargo container ships, we had the ocean to ourselves. With local intel giving me courage, we left HHI from the south, nearest the marina, rather than traveling the AICW north to Port Royal Sound as we had entered. I chose the southern inlet route after getting a lot of local intel as to the course and shoaling conditions. Even informed with local knowledge we had to be extremely aware of our position due to shallow water. We ran the inlet out about 8 miles and made our turn toward Charleston, heading at 58’. Seas were ~2 ft @ 5 seconds making for slightly choppy ride. The boat ran fine even without the super charger connected on the port engine; it took only a few seconds longer to get the port engine fully revved and matched to the starboard engine.

Here in Charleston, we’re on the mega yacht dock! Our dock neighbors are large private yachts. Met the captain of an 85’ yacht looking for local mechanics; I passed along the name of the company that will perform our oil change and work on the supercharger. BTW, he is pulling a 35’ Hinckley as their tender! Also met a guy from Miami in a 65’ yacht. Some of these boats make Tiger Woods’ yacht seem small! Our boat could be their tender!

I’ll off load the bikes and we’ll bicycle around town. Lots of good restaurants to explore!
