A series of rain storms have been moving through the area since yesterday afternoon. Overnight the easterly wind has picked up and we’re getting bounced around (again!). Any wind with an easterly component affects us as the marina and harbor are exposed. Thankfully we’re a few slips to the west than we were last summer and the rocking and rolling isn’t as severe. Nevertheless we’re still bouncing around. Looks like we’re in to an easterly wind for the next two days before it shifts to the south and then west.

I checked the weather for Friday, our planned moving day to Mackinac Island, and it appears the weather might cooperate. Forecast is for clouds, with a chance of rain but winds from the west shifting to the east late in the day. Mackinac Island is about a 4 hour run from Harbor Springs.

Due to our rainy weather I haven’t been able to get into the engine room and check fluids and the overall condition. Over the winter I had the transmissions pulled and new gaskets installed to correct a small fluid leak on both drives. The leak was a result of fair wear and tear so nothing unusual. Engine and generator oil, filters and impellers were changed, too. I just need to be sure everything was done as it should have been.

Yesterday we we got out and re-provisioned the boat. We also put away all of the stuff we had brought on!

I think we may go to the movies today.
